6 Ways to Make Money With Solo Ads

It’s Not Rocket Science But it’s Not Easy

The first question that probably popped into your head when you saw the headline about making money with solo ads was, “Do these still work?” I can give you a definitive answer on that. Yes. Solo ads DO work.

Think about different kinds of emails you see in your inbox every day. Did someone offer you a solution for your business, personal life, or for your home via email today? Those are solo ads. At their best they can drive more traffic to websites and give network marketers the opportunity to make a sale.

1) Write Ads That Solve a Problem
This is a common mistake network marketers commit. Instead of writing the ad to capture the attention of their customer by solving a problem they constantly pitch their product and or business. What compels people to click to see more? It’s probably not going to be a cool logo or the product itself. The clicks happen when your ad solves a problem the reader has. Ask yourself these questions to ensure you can make a buck with solo ads:

* What does my niche need?
* How might they be feeling today (consider relevant, current events)?
* What information can I give that will help them?

2) Include an Offer They Can’t Refuse
Set a deadline for clicking on the ad; tell them what they’ll receive in exchange for their prompt attention to something they’ve already decided they want.

3) Be Smart About Using Ezines
This tip goes back to my first point regarding the importance of tailoring your message for your market niche. If you choose to use ezines to feature your ad, pick one with content that will speak to your audience. If you’re selling mystical, herbal remedies you might not want that placed in an ezine featuring the newest high-tech gadgets (not that techies don’t like au natural products).

Same comments apply to reps who are promoting their business opportunity. Always run your ads in ezines that have a network marketing/home business focus. Other factors to consider:

* What is the ezine rate (marketers sometimes forget rates vary)?
* How big is the publisher’s email list?
* How often are emails sent?
* What is the size of the ezine’s market and how responsive is it?
* Will my ad truly be a solo ad or will it be semi solo

TIP: If the ezine’s readers are responsive in the smaller market but unresponsive in the larger market, weigh the benefits and costs of using one over the other. As to including your marketing piece with other pieces it’s up to you. However including yours as a semi solo ad could lessen the effectiveness of your message.

4. Write in a Conversational Style
The best advertising pieces read as though they’re a conversation with a good friend or a loyal customer. If it’s really good people will get halfway through before realizing what it is. And by the time they realize it’s marketing, they won’t mind because you’ve given them something useful. Statistics also demonstrate that solo ads written in the third person resonate more with readers than ‘first person’ ads (“MLM Guru says this is effective” vs “I think this is effective”).

5) Maximize the Click
Once people click on your ad, make sure they go to a “squeeze page” (sounds cutthroat, I know) to make sure you have a way to get their contact information. Also make sure you have a tracking system in place to monitor how many clicks and leads you get from your solo advertisement. Finally, make sure you consistently monitor the style of writing and language you use for headlines so you can determine what works and what doesn’t. Monitoring is KEY!

6) If it’s Not Broke, Don’t Fix it
The last tip on how to make a buck with solo ads is this: if you’ve found a great ad format that works stick with it. You can’t get too much of the right thing. Just remember you can’t know what works if you don’t monitor the responses to your various solo ad campaigns.

Final Thoughts

Making money with individual ads isn’t easy – and there is a ton of information out there on what works and what doesn’t. But I hope these strategies make cents!

There are thousands of ezines which can make it very confusing for the newbie who is trying to find a tried and true way to Make Money With Solo Ads. Accessing a trusted review site can save you a lot of time and frustration.
